Steering the Wheel of Life towards a Good Death

Our goal at The Wheel Mavens is to offer holistic, compassionate and bespoke end-of-life and afterlife support to your pet, and to you, in the aftermath of its death.

Despite our most fervent desires, most of us accept that life exists on a finite timeline, and that death is an inevitability every living things has, in its own time, to face. Still, even knowing this, we are inclined to avoid the discussion of death and dying; as if doing so would halt the natural progression of time. This is particularly true when it comes to contemplating the mortality of our pets, for in many instances we come to love and care for them more than we do for ourselves.

Ultimately, as surely as we plan for a million tomorrows with our beloved animals, our time together is called to an end before we would like it to be. Often this comes when we least expect it, and long before we have begun to contemplate what the concept of mortality means for them, or for ourselves.

Even when anticipated, the death of a loved one is painful, but the loss of a pet is a particular type of grief, one which is all too often misunderstood and silent.

If you have ever lost a pet or a companion animal that you were particularly close to, you’ll know exactly what I am talking about. Perhaps you also understand the isolation, the fear of not being able to openly mourn because the bond which you shared with that animal was misunderstood, downplayed, or simply invisible to the humans around you.

Maybe your animal friend was your closest friend, or you were reliant upon them as a service animal … that too, is a unique pain.

Whatever the circumstances, your desire to mourn was (and is) real. It needs to be expressed.

The Wheel Mavens believe in a Good Death for all animals, one which honours their life and which assists you to give a voice to the sadness you feel in their absence.

We are here to witness and hold space, to companion and to care.

Our Approach is Compassionate, Supportive, Holistic, Unique.
